At the age of eight, Explosive Okie couldn't run anymore due to a bad knee. His owner wanted to make sure he could live out his retirement happily in a pasture so he was donated to the OTRP in 2011.
After rehabilitation and time off, Okie was was evaluated and would not be suitable for riding. He joined the permanent herd in 2012.
